Here is ALMAH from Brazil. For the firstime this is the Solo Project of Edu Falaschi vocalist of Angra. He released debut album called Almah in 2006 with guest musician and became the full band after that. And Now Almah Release a second album with a full team band called Fragile Equality. This interview made by Keerati (Cherub's vocalist) discuss with Edu Falaschi the mainman talking about Almah and current situation of Angra.
Keerati(KT): It’s an honored to have an interview with you. First of all, congratulations for your new album. Edu Falaschi(EF): THANKS! IM VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
KT: Before we talk about your second release “Fragile Equality”, let’s talk about your first album “Almah”. Thai fans would want to know how it began. What was your inspiration? EF: I WAS TOURING WITH ANGRA, AND I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING NEW , FRESH, WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE, SO I DECIDED TO RELEASE A SOLO PROJECT CALLED ALMAH.
KT: Please talk about the new one “Fragile Equality”. What is the concept and inspiration? Is there anything to do with your own experience? EF: THE CONCEPT OF THE LYRICS ARE BASED ON A BOOK THAT IM CO-WRITING. IT WILL BE A MANGA BOOK, WITH THE FRAGILE EQUALITY CD INSIDE, BUT WITHOUT VOCALS, LIKE A KARAOKE CD. THE STORY IS A ADVENTURE AND TALKS ABOUT THE BALANCE THAT MUST EXIST IN EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD.
KT: From “Almah”, it’s your site project, right?. But for “Fragile Equality” it develops to be a complete music band. How each members meet, what about their jobs, how much it changes your working style? EF: YEAH NOW ALMAH IS A BAND. EVERYBODY HELPED ME WITH THE COMPOSITION AND ARRANGEMENTS. I INVITED THE BESTEST BRAZILIAN MUSICIANS NOWADAYS TO JOIN THE BAND. THEN A HAVE A SUPER BRAZILIAN METAL BAND.
KT: I think you’ve heared this kind of question a lot, but for Thai fans, they quite didn’t get it. About “You’ll understand”, first single uploaded on My Space. It’s kind of more heavy than the last album. It changes a lot. [many fans wait in front of their own computer and pres F5 every minute]. Please tell them about the reason of choosing this song to be the first single. EF: “YOU’LL UNDERSTAND” HAVE ALL ELEMENTS FROM THE OTHER SONGS, POWERMETAL, PROGRESSIVE, BEALTIFUL MELODIES, GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS, VOCALS AND ORCHESTRAL ELEMENTS. THAT’S A SUMARY OF THE WHOLE ALBUM.
KT: Songs in this album are intensive and have more clear direction than the last one, I thing, because of what? EF: NOW IT’S A BAND, SO A BAND NEEDS TO HAVE AN IDENTITY, THEN WE THOUGHT A LOT HOW WOULD BE OURS. THEN THIS TIME WE HAVE A TOTALLY FOCOUSED ALBUM.
KT: What is the concept for each song? And what is your favorite and why? EF: ALL SONGS TALKS ABOUT DIFFERENT KIND OF BALANCES, IN A RELATIONSHIP, IN THE DIFFERENT RELIGIONS, CULTURES, ETC. BUT THE WHOLE THINK IS ABOUT THE DELICATED LINE THAT DIVIDES THE CHAOS AND THE ORDER.
KT: For the sound record at Norcal Studios, you look happy. Let’s talk about it. How was it? EF: YEAH, I’M TOTALLY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. THIS STUDIO IS FANTASTIC AND IT WAS MY BEST PERFORMANCE AS A PRODUCER. FELIPE HELPED ME WITH THE PRODUCTION SO WE HAD A VERY IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIP, THAT WAS ESSENCIAL FOR THE POWERFUL RESULT.
KT: After the album release, what is the feedback? Does it meet your expectation? EF: IT’S FUCKING GREAT! I RECIEVED MANY POSITIVE REVIEWS FROM EVERYWEHERE, JAPAN, EUROPE, USA, BRAZIL. MANY IMPORTANT JOURNALISTS SAY THAT FRAGILE EQUALITY IS A MASTERPIECE AND IT’S A POWERMETAL JEWEL, AND THAT THIS ALBUM IS THE POWERMETAL EVOLUTION. THAT’S COOL TO HEAR.
KT: How about the tour? Do you get along well with this line up? EF: WE ARE DOING SOME CONCERTS IN BRAZIL, I HOPE TO GO TO ASIA AND EUROPE IN 2009. AND OF COURSE THAILAND.
KT: Who own the idea “almah connection”?. It’s so cool!. I use to meet Felipe once.I’m so happy. EF: I CREATED IT. I THINK IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE A CONNECTION WITH THE FANS. THEY ARE EVERYTHING IN MY CARREAR. ALMAH WITHOUT THE FANS IS NOTHING, THE FANS WITHOUT ALMAH, THEY ALWAYS WILL BE.
KT: Please talk about Gustavo Sazes. He’s so called the rising star designer recently. What is your reason for choosing him to do the artwork. The selected color theme of this album is blue, is it your favorite color? EF: GUSTAVO IS THE BEST DESIGNER IN BRAZIL, THAT’S WHY I WANTED HIM. AND BLUE IS A VERY NICE COLOR AND IT’S RELATED TO THE MANGA BOOK UNIVERSE I’M WRITING.
KT: In 2006, you used to talk about you illness. How are you today? EF: I’M OK NOW. THE REFLUX IS CONTROLED AND MY VOICE IS BACK, POWERFULL AND KILLER.
KT: Does that illness effect your singing style in this album? EF: NO.
KT: Have you ever thought to get back to your old singing style in Angra “Rebirth”? EF: ACTUALLY, I’M BACK TO THE REAL EDU FALASCHI’S STYLE. I DIN’T THINK ABOUT ALBUMS, BUT ABOUT ME AS A SINGER.
KT: As the lead vocal, how do you take care of your health? EF: I DON’T EAT BEFORE SLEEPING, I DRINK A LOT OF WATTER BUT ACTUALLY I TRY TO LEAVE IN PEACE. I DON’T WANT TO BE A NEUROTHIC SINGER. SO I LIVE A NORMAL LIFE. I JUST TAKE CARE OF MY HEALTH IN A USUAL WAY.
KT: Many Thai fans would want to know the situation of Angra recently. Do you get your new drummer, and when will you reunite to produce new album? EF: WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RETURNING NEXT YEAR. I DON’T KNOW WHEN…BUT I HOPE SOON, BUT I WANT TO LET EVERYTHING CLEAR, THAT ALMAH WILL NOT STOP. I WILL DO BOTH BANDS AT THE SAME TIME.
KT: Any thing to say to Thai fan? EF: I LOVE THE ASIAN CULTURE, ALL OF THEM, SO I HOPE TO PLAY IN THAILAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND SEE ALL THE FANS GETTING CRAZY THERE WITH A POWERFUL AND ANIMAL METAL CONCERT. Thank you very much. This interview will make Thai fans very happy. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT.
